Alright guys, before I begin, you all have to look at the good portfolio for this business who does DVD packaging. I found them doing some research for my 2D design program and they have some really great band DVD on the books!
Several years ago (when I was quite a lot younger!) I was privileged enough to see Iron Maiden play in Nottingham. I have been to a respectable amount of gigs in my time but I think this was the best. At the time, about half of my record collection was made up of Maiden albums so it was all a pretty big experience for me.
They are no longer one of my favourite bands, although I do still have a bit of a soft spot for their music… and when I think back to seeing them live it is a very fond memory indeed.
A couple of years back, Iron Maiden were voted ‘Best Live Metal Act’ by the readers of Kerrang! magazine and it is not difficult to see why; the amount of energy they all had on stage was tremendous. God knows how many songs they played that night, but they covered every single they’d ever had (which, if you are unaware is an awful lot)… and then some!
The stage set was amazing and there was a giant ‘Eddie’ that rose up and loomed over us all. Bruce Dickinson ran around like a madman and every song they played was just as good as on record. The only dull part of the evening was having to sit through a set by the then unknown Funeral For a Friend. God, they were awful! Most of the audience wandered off to buy a T-shirt or use the loo and didn’t return until it was time for Maiden to come on.
It was a truly magical night and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. You’d think that the place would just be full of dirty bikers, but there were actually loads of parents there with their kids! Of course, there were plenty of grebos, but it was all really friendly and the atmosphere was great.
