When Lady Gaga’s album ‘The Fame’ was released near the end of 2008 I am sure she never knew what was coming. The album has been a commercial success and there are obvious reasons why. First of all Lady Gaga can actually sing. Yes folks she has a very good voice and her music serves only to compliment the voice. There are no synthesizers her hiding that beautiful voice. This album shows off Gaga’s range and she outshines the music easily.
The Fame apart from her voice is filled with some pretty great tracks and also a few that could have been left off it. The album has what can only be seen as influences from the 80’s music scene and the 90’s euro pop. It is also a story presented in terms of song with the story line being fame and what it can be like. Take the hit single ‘Paparazzi’ a nice and representative dance tune tells of what can happen because of fame. Other songs such as Beautiful, Dirty, Rich, and Starstruck also does the same thing if you listen close enough.
The title track “The Fame” is mainly about Gaga’s uniqueness. It is a nicely crafted song with a smooth beat. In a pop music world it doesn’t matter who you are you will have to come out with a catch tune to make the fans go crazy and this album has hit it right on the money. Many of the tunes are catchy and memorable so much so you will find yourself humming them for days. The tunes are good when they are good with a few ballads that were not as good but they worked just the same.
This album recently won Lady Gaga two Grammy awards, with ‘Poker Face winning for Best Electronica/Dance Song and the album itself for Best Electronic/Dance Album. You go Gaga, of all the pop stars you really deserve your luxury bathroom accessories.
